Timber Rattlers & Fox Cities Stadium – 2024 Menu

We like baseball. Not for the sport so much but the atmosphere. Watching baseball in real life is the only sport where I have the constant fear of losing my teeth. I need those to eat food because I am not drinking a hotdog smoothie (sorry for putting that image in your head).

You don’t have to drive down to Milwaukee to get some good ballpark eats. Fox Cities Stadium is home to our own minor league team, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Let’s dive in to the tasty eats you can find at the ballpark this season.

The Whole Plate

We’ve been to the stadium before. Whether to see the Timber Rattlers as a date or corporate event (or even the Packer’s softball fundraiser), it has always been a good time. At $14/ticket plus parking, it’s an affordable night out. And let’s be honest, the game play is just as exciting. Players in the MLB are in the top .5%. Players in the MiLB are in the top 1%.

But we’re here for the food! Finding food at the ballpark is an adventure. You can get your standard ballpark fare everywhere but for the specialty foods, they’re only served at certain stands. Let’s dive in.

The Food

The menu we tasted was a mix of some old and some new bites. It was developed by Executive Chef Charles alongside the culinary team and the fans. We tried a lot of things so we’re going to list each food and share some thoughts on each.

The Savory

Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger – $14.00

Imagine a bacon grilled cheese, a bacon cheeseburger, and ANOTHER bacon grilled cheese. The Baconator has competition. It was monstrously tasty but heavy. We wished they had a special sauce to go with it, something tangy to counteract the fattiness. No, washing it down with beer doesn’t make up for lack of sauce. Plan to sauce this burger up with a lot of ketchup and mustard. 7/10

Fried Pork Sandwich – $11.50

Roll out the barrel for our German ancestors, we’ve got a pork schnitzel with pickles and a mustard aioli on a TR branded bun. The fried pork extends far beyond the confines of its bun, which is visually exciting until you taste a sauceless piece of meat and realize you have a ways to go before the paradise of the sauce and pickle. The pork was pounded very thin in some places making some bites difficult to chew. But every other bite was great. Maybe ask for some of the aioli on the side? 8/10 for Dave & Linds

The Show Sandwich – $11.25?

The question mark is because they had a question mark on the pricing guide.

“Welcome to the Show” is term often said when a minor league player makes it to the majors. But why would you want to make it the major leagues when this sandwich exists in the minors? This was, hands down, the best bite we had. A juicy fried chicken breast, a melty slice of sharp cheddar cheese, and sweet cherry bacon jam on a toasted sourdough bread. The perfect blend of sweet and salty. This one obviously won the 2023 Food Fight and it won this review. 10/10 for Dave & Linds

Gyro Waffle Fries – $11.00

There’s a street food in Europe called doner and chips. Thick cut steak fries covered in shaved gyro meat. Glad to see the idea of just piling meat on fries is finally catching on here! Crispy waffle fries topped with all the gyro accoutrements: sliced gyro meats, diced tomato, feta cheese, whole kalamata olives, and a drizzle of tzatziki sauce. This was one of the few dishes without every ingredient fried. It’s a nice option for a bit more freshness. 7/10 for Dave and a 9/10 for Linds

Full Count Sliders – 2 for $8.25; 3 for $11.50; All 5 for $17.50

There are different varieties of these sliders. The mini-brats with fried onions and Stormin’ Gorman sauce was the winner of the five. The others were kinda just… meh. We do not recommend the chicken slider. It was quite literally just chicken and a bun. No cheese. No sauce. It would be a good option for a picky-eater but that’s about it. 4/10 for Dave and Linds

Pulled Pork Street Tacos – 2 for $14.50

The pulled pork had a lot more flavor than expected, clearly a good smoke time on it. Guac, corn salsa, and pico we’re also full of flavor making for a solid street taco. 7/10 for Dave and Linds

The Sweets

In the Dirt Funnel Cake – $17.50

This wants to be fun. Visually, it’s a show-stopper and people will ask where you got it. In our case, it was obvious that the funnel cake was fried much earlier so by the time we got it, it was kind of a greasy brick. We’re sure the flavors would have been there if it was fresh. Kids will think this is fun, especially with bright colored gummy worms. It’s hard to give this one an accurate rating.

Injectable Donuts – 2 flavors for $10.75; 3 flavors for $13.25

A great experience of a dessert. A pile of cinnamon sugar donut holes and three syringes of flavors to inject: blackberry jam, chocolate sauce, and vanilla pudding. You better have two hands free for these otherwise you’re bound to miss or spill your drink. While it is fun, Lindsay actually almost preferred the donuts without the extras. But if we had to choose one, we’d pick blackberry again. 6/10 for Dave & Linds

Sweet and Salty Bomboloni – $10.00

It’s a filled donut with popcorn. Same vanilla pudding as the injectables, just pre-injected. Caramel popcorn dotted on top, and then bacon bits. Not as much of a flavor bomb as the visual would make you believe. 5/10 for Dave and 3/10 for Linds (her issues with it was how artificial the pudding tasted and the bacon was very smoky which felt like it didn’t belong)

We know this was a rough review of desserts. We felt the same way. Hopefully fresh desserts would make for a better experience, but we’d be more likely to find an ice cream stand.

The Drink – All $12, refills $10.50

Who’s On Third

Vodka, passion fruit liqueur, and lemonade. A great sipper for a hot summer day if you are into fruity drinks. 8/10 for Dave & Linds

Whiffer-Ita

Tequila, blue curacao, and lemonade. Light, refreshing, and margarita-esque. Another great option for summer. 8/10 for Dave and 9/10 for Linds

Snake On the Beach

Green Bay Distillery classic and cherry vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice, cranberry juice. This one had a semi-medicinal quality that we think came from the schnapps.

Fan Venom

Spiced rum, watermelon schnapps, blue curacao, and pineapple juice. The watermelon is a personal preference. Dave did not like it and Lindsay thought it was just okay. We might just not be schnappy people.

Taking It to Go

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised when we asked to see the menu pricing. We didn’t think anything was outrageously priced and most received high praises. We can’t wait to actually experience these foods in the atmosphere of a full ballpark. We gave you everything on the map but honestly, it should just be directions to the Show chicken sandwich, which is at the 3rd Base Main Concession stand. So enter through the main gates, turn right, grab your sandwich, and head to your seat.
